Update on Canterbury of NZ

By August 5, 2009January 13th, 2012No Comments

Dear members

the following statement appeared on the JD Sports website yesterday:

Leisurewear retailer JD Sports has rescued the European arm of sports clothing company Canterbury, raising hopes that it will revive some of the firm’s sponsorship deals.

JD bought the trade and assets of the division, based in Stockport, Cheshire, for an undisclosed sum in a deal that could secure 50 jobs.

The firm is also buying the global Canterbury brand for £6.5m.

JD executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “We are delighted with the acquisition of the Canterbury brand, which will further diversify the group’s overall interests in the sports and related leisurewear markets.”

I have been in touch with Hawkins sport to understand what communication has been sent by Canterbury to its customers, and what the plans are to keep producing cricket team wear. I will update everyone when i have some feedback that CCC will still be able to supply cricket shirts

Many thanks for your understanding and patience on this matter
