Windsor Sunday XI v Binfield – Match Abandoned – Rain.

The cricket is back and so is weather, with all games being abandoned after a couple of hours on Saturday, and Sunday’s game not even able to get underway. There were however a few notable performances before the rain hit.

Windsor 1’s were making good progress against Boyne Hill with Chris Dixon and Dean Allen-Turner opening with on 90, before Dixon fell for 48. Dean Allen Turner was stumped for 47 shortly after, before the rain became too heavy at 132-2. Sam Jordan and Vishal Nair were the not out batsmen.

Windsor 2 made the long journey to Crowmarsh Gifford to face Kidmore End 2’s, and intially were maing good inroads reducing their hosts to 40-4, Bean Bean taking 3-30, backed up by some fine Windsor catching. As conditons became more and more difficult for the bowlers, Kidmore End’s 5th wicket pair put on 60, before a third and final rain break had the final, inevitable say.

The rain may have rescued Windsor 3’s who were bowled out for exactly 100 against Cookham Dean 4’s at Home Park. Skipper Richard Charters held things together with 31, while Paul Woodbridge (14) and Richard Endacott (22) were the only other batsman to make double figures. The ongoing deluge meant that the visitors were unable to begin their reply.

The heavy rain also meant that Windsor’s Sunday fixture against Binfield was unable to go ahead.

However, with much better weather forecast this week, and with Windsor putting out 5 sides over the whole weekend, there should be much to look forward to.
