Skipper Wes Nichols was welcomed back to the side as he top scored with 45 v Amersham

WINDSOR 177

Nichols 45
Vandenberg 40

Defeated by

AMERSHAM 4/180

On the hottets day of the year thus far, Windsor struggled to compete with Division 1 heavy-weights Amersham on the weekend.

Upon winning the toss, Windsor batted, but no real partnerships got going on a decent batting strip. Only Nichols (45) and Vandenberg (40) shared a 47 run partnership that helped define the innings, but both departed when they needed to stay in and push a total to 200+. As it was 177 was a sub par score and Windsor would need to take early wickets and them some, to compete.

That they did with Harris (3/75) and Nichols (1/45) making inroads early on, but on a now devine batting strip, Amersham did what Windsor couldn’t, build a game breaking partnership. Cann (62) anbd Fleming (62*) provided a masterclass on batting as they destroyed the will of the home side, putting on 100 and more or less winning the match.

Having played, and been beated by the top 2 sides on the ladder thus far in Kew and Amersham, Windsor are hoping the lessons learned, can put them in good stead for the rest of the season, and with a bit of luck, maybe grab a win against Basingstoke next weekend.
