A Roasting Day in More Ways Than One!

North Maidenhead 4th XI 119 all out (30.3 overs) H.Singh 5-22

Windsor 4th X1 123 for 5 (27 overs) S.Martin 44 not out, T.Houghton 30

Windsor 4’s continued their climb up the table towards promotion with a convincing victory away at North Maidenhead. On a hard and bouncy wicket it was the Maidenhead skipper that won the toss and elected to bat in the hope of setting Windsor a challenging total……….he obviously hadn’t taken into account Windsor’s new ball attack of Harvey Singh and Scott Martin!

Martin’s 8 overs for only nine 9 runs put a stranglehold on the home side, but it was the consistent line and length (not forgetting the deadly swing!) of new ball partner Harvey Singh who created the real damage. His impressive figures of ten overs, five for twenty two, were made even more impressive because of the soaring temperatures he had to bowl in. Despite a couple of huge sixes and fours from South African Brizuidenmout, further wickets from Khanna, Bannerjee, Light and Johal brought an early tea interval with the Maidenhead skipper having to ponder just how to defend a total of 119.

Windsor started their reply brightly, with a breezy 30 from promoted pinch hitter Tim Houghton, a solid 16 from youngster Sam Condon together with a 44 not out from the Aussie run machine Scott Martin guided Windsor home to put them fourth in the table, with a game in hand over the teams above them.
