Job Done

High Wycombe 148 (Griffiths 51-5, Endacott 44-3)

Windsor 150-6 (Bullock 36*)

It was never going to be classic cricket at a dull, windy and cold Ibstone ground for Windsor 2’s last Saturday and although they made had work of chasing a low total, it was a case of job done by the end of the day.

Winning the toss stand in skipper Warren Griffiths decided to bowl and both he and fellow opener Oliver Birch both initially failed to find consistency as High Wycombe got off to a good start and after 14 overs we looking good at 62-0. However the introduction of the experienced Richard Endacott, bowling an accurate line and length together with a rejuvenated Griffiths brought instant results. Brian Davis took two sharp chances behind the stumps off Griffiths and when Endacott clean bowled Javed High Wycombe had slumped to 65-3 and Windsor had their tails up. High Wycombe never recovered and wickets fell at regular intervals with Endacott picking up a total of 44-3 with Griffiths the chief destroyer returning 51-5. The introduction of Alex Hill saw off the tail and High Wycombe were eventually dismissed for 148.

Windsor’s reply spluttered somewhat after the removal of Richard Noble caught at Mid off and the freak dismissal of Brian Davis after playing a ball off the back of his ankle which rolled onto the stumps. Rob Dawson and Paul Huggins rallied hitting some clean boundaries between them although both were dismissed in the 30’s and the run out of Hameet Channa caused High Wycombe to think they may be back in the game. However a quick fire 17 from Damien Bradbury and another 36 not out from Tom Bullock saw Windsor home eventually for the loss of 6 wickets.
